Mr. Ward is one of America''s great artists. A draftsman, well
known as a book designer, recognized for his fine woodcuts, Mr.
Ward has become one of the finest book illustrators in America. He
did the illustrations for the America''s series, Paul Revere, Ethan
Allen, and Robert E. Lee. He has done work for magazines and has
illustrated several children''s books by his wife, May McNeer. With
"The Biggest Bear" Mr. Ward starts on still another career. So far
his writing has been confined to articles for magazines and
contributions to book symposia. He enters the children''s picture
book field as an author--a new venture to this versatile man, and
one in which he will surely continue.
